Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about discovering live electronic music on clubstream.io.
🎧Getting Started
What is clubstream.io?
clubstream.io is a discovery layer for live electronic music, built around Twitch. We focus exclusively on DJs and electronic music — from Techno and House to Drum & Bass and Ambient. Think of it as a curated guide for finding live DJ sets, powered by Twitch streams.
Is clubstream.io free to use?
Yes, completely free. You can browse all live streams, explore genres, and discover DJs without an account. Signing in with Twitch unlocks additional features like following DJs and getting notifications when they go live.
How do I find a live stream?
Head to the Live Now page to see all DJs currently streaming. You can filter by genre, search by name, or sort by viewer count. You can also browse the Genres page and click into any genre to see who's live in that category.
What genres are available?
We cover 30 electronic music genres including Afro House, Techno, Deep House, Melodic House, Drum & Bass, Trance, Minimal, Dubstep, UK Garage, and many more. Each genre has its own page with live streams, DJs, and a description of the sound.
🎛️For DJs
How do I get my streams on clubstream.io?
Sign in with your Twitch account and create a DJ profile from the Dashboard. Once your profile is set up and your Twitch account is linked, your streams automatically appear on clubstream.io every time you go live — no manual action needed.
Do I need to change anything about my Twitch stream?
No. Just stream on Twitch as usual. Our system detects when you go live via Twitch EventSub webhooks and automatically creates a stream page with your title, thumbnail, and viewer count. The stream is sorted into your primary genre.
How does my DJ profile help with discoverability?
Every DJ gets a dedicated profile page at clubstream.io/dj/your-name, designed for search engine discoverability. We generate structured data (Schema.org markup) so your profile may appear in search results when people look for your genre or name.
Can I have multiple genres?
Yes, you can select up to 5 genres for your DJ profile. Your primary genre determines where your live stream is categorized, but you'll appear in search results and genre pages for all selected genres.
What is the "Go Live Message" feature?
You can set a custom message in your DJ profile that displays as a banner at the top of your stream page whenever you're live. Use it for announcements, set descriptions, or to direct viewers to your socials.
🔊For Listeners
How do I follow a DJ?
Sign in with Twitch, visit a DJ's profile page, and click the Follow button. You'll receive a notification when they go live. You can manage your notification preferences in Dashboard → Settings.
Can I get notified when my favorite DJ goes live?
Yes! After following a DJ, you'll get in-app notifications when they start streaming. You can fine-tune this in your notification settings — enable or disable alerts for followed DJs, system announcements, and recommendations.
What is a Listener Profile?
A Listener Profile lets you pick your favorite genres, write a short bio, and appear in the community section of genre pages. It's optional — you can follow DJs and use all features without creating one.
🛡️Clubstream Club
What is the Clubstream Club?
The Clubstream Club is an informal community label on the platform. DJs who add the Clubstream overlay to their stream and go live are recognized as Club members. It's not a legal membership, subscription, or organization — it's a way to show you're actively part of the community.
Does the Club cost anything?
No. Joining the Clubstream Club is completely free for DJs — there are no fees, subscriptions, or obligations. The overlay and all core features are provided at no cost. Some future features like Selected Requests may involve optional listener contributions that go to the DJ, but being a Club member itself will always be free.
What are the different tiers?
There are four tiers: "Discovered" (auto-created profiles from public Twitch data), "Verified" (DJs who sign in via Twitch, proving account ownership — free and automatic), "Clubstream Club" (DJs who actively stream with the overlay), and "Clubstream Featured" (hand-picked by the clubstream.io team for outstanding contribution). All lower tiers are retained as you progress. Tiers are informal labels and can change at any time.
What benefits do Club members get?
Club members get a visible Club badge on their profile, priority placement on the Live page, early access to Vibr — our algorithmic tool for harmonic mixing and energy flow analysis — and the upcoming Selected Requests feature, a way for your listeners to send song requests and directly support you while you stream. These benefits are provided at our discretion and may evolve over time.
How do I join the Club?
Go to your Dashboard → Join the Club. Customize your overlay, copy the URL, add it as a Browser Source in OBS or Streamlabs, and go live. You'll be recognized as a Club member while you're actively streaming with the overlay.
Can I lose my Club status?
Yes. Club status is tied to active participation. If you stop streaming with the overlay, your tier may be reverted to "Verified". Your Verified status remains as long as your Twitch account is connected. We reserve the right to modify or revoke tier status at any time, as outlined in our Terms of Service (Section 6).
What is Selected Requests?
Selected Requests is an upcoming feature for Club members that brings DJs and listeners closer together. As a DJ, you manage your tracklists through Vibr and choose which tracks to make available for requests. Listeners can then browse your curated selection and send a song request during your stream. It's a way for your audience to actively support you and shape the vibe of your set. DJs stay in full control of what's requestable, and requests come with a small contribution that goes directly to the artist. Details on pricing and availability will follow as the feature develops.
⚡Technical
Which streaming platforms are supported?
Currently, Twitch is the primary supported platform with full integration (auto-detection, embedded player, chat). YouTube, Mixcloud, and SoundCloud streams can be added manually, but Twitch offers the most seamless experience.
How does the Twitch embed work?
When you open a Twitch stream on clubstream.io, you get the official Twitch player and chat embedded directly on the page. No need to leave the site — you watch, chat, and discover related streams all in one place.
How quickly does a stream appear after going live?
Twitch sends a webhook notification within seconds of a DJ going live. The stream page is typically created within 30 seconds, and search engines are notified shortly after. Actual indexing timing depends on the search engine.
Is my data safe?
We use Twitch OAuth for authentication — we never see or store your password. The only data we store is your public Twitch profile info (username, avatar) and your clubstream preferences. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
🌍About the Platform
Why another streaming platform?
We're not a streaming platform — we're a complementary discovery layer built around Twitch. Twitch is great for live streaming, and clubstream.io makes it easier to find electronic music DJs specifically by curating, categorizing, and presenting live electronic music content in one focused place.
How is clubstream.io different from other DJ directories?
Most directories are static lists. clubstream.io is real-time: we detect Twitch streams automatically, show live viewer counts, embed the official Twitch player, and provide genre-based navigation. Every page is structured for search engine discoverability, helping DJs build an additional web presence.
Is clubstream.io affiliated with Twitch?
No. clubstream.io is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Twitch Interactive, Inc. or Amazon.com, Inc. We use the official Twitch API in accordance with the Twitch Developer Agreement. Twitch is a trademark of Twitch Interactive, Inc.
How can I report a problem or suggest a feature?
Use our contact form at clubstream.io/contact or send us an email at [email protected]. We read every message and actively develop new features based on community feedback.
